About

Gino Hardial Singh, a Barrister of the Middle Temple, is the founder of Abbots Chambers LLC. Prior to incorporating Abbots, he headed the criminal litigation departments of firms he practiced in. He is an experienced and dedicated trial lawyer who focuses his litigation practice on white collar crimes involving offences under the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act, the Prevention of Corruption Act, Organized Crime, Criminal Breach of Trust, Credit Card Fraud as well as Cheating offences. He is also confident of fighting for persons accused of committing Murder, Drug Trafficking, Robbery, Rape, Sexual Assault, Rioting and offences against Public Servants and has obtained good results. Prior to becoming an Advocate & Solicitor in Singapore in the year 2000 he had a 3-and-a-half-year stint in law enforcement.

In the past 4 years, he has managed to obtain 94 acquittals (pre-trial and post-trial) and discharges for clients accused of committing different kinds of offences including those under the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act, Rape, offences against Public Servants, Robbery and outrage of modesty.  This includes warnings in lieu of prosecution and no further actions at the investigations stage.

In 2014, he was recognized as being the top volunteer under the Law Society’s Criminal Legal Aid Scheme and continues to assist the underprivileged on a Pro Bono basis as best as he can.

“I learned quickly that Gino is a fighter, he cares for his clients, shows passion and is open with you. I was not alone from the moment I called Gino.” – Client’s testimonial dated Feb 2018

Gino started off his career as a shipping lawyer 18 years ago and is no stranger to matters involving commercial disputes. He has acted for plaintiffs in medical negligence law suits and was one of the lawyers who acted for parties involved in the “Slim 10” case where TV Media had been sued by a local television personality for negligently advertising and promoting a slimming pill, the consumption of which caused her liver to fail.

Gino felt more like a friend than a lawyer. But he is a great lawyer – make no mistake about that. After an arduous few months, he succeeded in getting me a “no further action”.

There are four reasons I would recommend him to anyone under investigation.

First, Gino has a really sharp legal mind. He works through the various paths of defence and comes incisively to the one that makes most legal sense. And he’s able to explain why he is choosing a particular path. His sense of logic is impeccable.

Second, Gino doesn’t only use his mind, he uses his gut. In my case, we were both torn about whether it would make sense to send a representation at a particular stage, given the facts of the case. In the end, we went with Gino’s gut, and Gino’s gut prevailed.

Third, Gino doesn’t just use his mind, he doesn’t just use his gut, he uses his heart. This is what I mean when I say he felt more like a friend than a lawyer. He was easily contactable over the phone. He was willing to discuss the case with you even though he’s discussed it before, because he understands you are anxious and wants to allay your concerns. And he receives you into his house, because he wants you to trust him as a friend. He didn’t want the relationship to just be business-like.

Finally, with Gino, it’s not about the money. He probably doesn’t need the money. In fact, he wants you to spend as little money as possible while getting a good outcome. He is not interested in directing the case in a way that may increase his billings.

Even if I could afford a QC, I would take Gino – because the QC wouldn’t care the way Gino does. And anyway, who know – Gino may well be on his way to becoming a QC.

jmt,

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Gino for his help. The moment we got in touch with him, he arranged to meet us immediately. He listened carefully, asked questions to understand the situation better and his confidence and calm demeanour was a great source of comfort to us.

We received word that there will be no further police action for the case about 5 weeks after Gino and his team sent in their representations. We feel as if a great burden has been lifted off our shoulders.

Thank you from the bottom of our heart, Gino!

W,

This is coming in a bit late but my husband and I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Gino from releasing us from the misery we had from last Aug to Dec. We were at a loss & had even sought legal advice from another lawyer before him who charged us a consultation fee but which left us clueless of what to do next. When I came by Mr. Gino’s profile & review on this website, I decided to call & discuss the case with him on behalf of my husband. He immediately fixed an appointment for us to meet & discuss on the case. My only worry was whether my husband, who is not a local, will be deported back to his country as we have a little one to think about too. But Mr Gino gave us the confidence that nothing like that will happen & he even wrote in to the Singapore Attorney General’s Chambers to reduce the criminal charge against my husband. Soon after that my husband was let off with a warning & a fine which has since been cleared.
I would like to take this opportunity again to thank Mr. Gino for his sincerity in wanting to help us & would also like to strongly recommend his expertise in this legal field as you are definitely in good hands. We are grateful to you, Mr. Gino & we wish you success in every path of your life.

Raje,

I was new to Singapore and found myself in a very stressful position where a small joke blew up out of proportion – and worse case scenario I could have been deported out from Singapore with a record. I initially hired a lawyer (a civil lawyer posing as a criminal lawyer) who charged me an absurd amount of initial money and throughout the process I felt as though he ultimately wanted it to go to court (so he can make more money); I understand it was my decision to hire him, but being new to this country, stressed and uncertain of who to talk to it was a horrible spot to be in to be taken advantage of.

Luckily, I found and switched to Gino who listened, consulted with his team and took action immediately with the prosecution. If only i consulted him first – it would have saved me much more time, money and peace of mind. Thanks to Gino, I am still in Singapore without a record and am able to get along with my life in this great country.

N,
