Called to the Singapore Bar in 2009, June has extensive experience in all aspects of matrimonial practice. She regularly advises  HNW clients and professionals on Pre-Nuptial Agreements, Post-Nuptial Agreements, divorces, separations, custody, guardianship, variations of divorce Orders, applications for spousal and child maintenance, maintenance enforcement and domestic violence matters. June has a keen interest and expertise in cross-border divorces, including international child abduction and child relocation matters. She has argued matrimonial cases at all levels of the Singapore Courts, while also resolving matters through mediation.

Having practiced commercial litigation before moving into matrimonial practice, June has also been involved in shareholders disputes, worked with business valuers and forensic accountants to trace assets as part of her commercial litigation and matrimonial work. She has a deep understanding of the family dynamics that are the undercurrents of family businesses.

June has also served on the boards of various non-profit organisations in the women and migrant worker spaces. She also regularly advises social service agencies and individual social service professionals. June was appointed the Pro Bono Ambassador 2018 in recognition of her decade-long pro bono service in the community. She currently volunteers with the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme, the Legal Aid Bureau and the Community Justice Centre. She is the current Chairperson of the Family Justice Support Scheme Committee, providing pro bono legal aid in matrimonial cases involving foreign nationals with Singaporean children.

Above all, June sees her role as a practical problem-solver. She is a certified Therapeutic Justice practitioner and believes in handling each case with patience, compassion and dignity. Since all families are different, there are no one-size-fits-all solutions and June is more than willing to push the boundaries for the appropriate case.

Notable Matters

• Represented the successful German father in the 1st case decided in Singapore under the International Child Abduction Act (ICAA) and the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, before the Singapore Court of Appeal (BDU v. BDT [2014] SGCA 12).
• Represented the successful Singaporean mother against the Irish father in Singapore’s 5th Hague Convention international child abduction case, involving arguments on breach of custodial rights under the ICAA and Irish law on custody of an illegitimate child [2018].
• Represented the Singaporean mother against the American father before the Singapore High Court, involving novel arguments on common intention constructive trusts and division of matrimonial property in the context of an annulled marriage (BMM v. BMN [2017] 4 SLR 1315).
• Represented the French father against the Kazakh mother in landmark litigation on the cancellation of Dependant’s Passes and the impact of immigration status on custody, care and control of children in Singapore (TYC v. TYD [2017] SGFC 23).
• Represented a public-listed company in a common law derivative action to hold a director/shareholder accountable for breaches of fiduciary duties, and other related derivative and shareholder actions involving the same parties. • Represented a social media personality against another social media personality in her divorce, including the division of their jointly-owned media companies and subsequent shareholder disputes in the companies that continued to be co-owned after the divorce [2023].
• Represented an Indonesian mother in a cross-border relocation case out of Singapore, involving the judicial interview of young children (XBF v XBE [2024] SGHCF 42).
