Rizuan graduated from the University of Manchester. His practice training contract was completed at B. Rao & K.S. Rajah under Mr Fazal Mohamed before he was called to the Singapore Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor.
He thereafter practiced for some time at a mid-sized lawfirm before returning to B Rao & KS Rajah. In January 2020, he took over as Managing Partner of B.Rao & K.S Rajah. B. Rao & K.S Rajah is now known as Emerald Law.
Rizuan is a general practitioner and deals in a wide area of practice including but not limited to Civil and Criminal Litigation, Family Litigation and Syariah Divorces. He is also well versed in Muslim Estate Planning involving nuzuriah, hibah and deeds of family arrangement.
Rizuan has a keen interest in civil matters particularly those involving companies and businesses. He also believes that it is important to ensure that individuals are protected and not left stranded by companies and/or businesses that fail to deliver. He encourages companies/businesses to pen down their business agreements in clear terms whenever they enter into contracts.
His wide area of practice since his time as a trainee has seen him involved in a gamut of civil cases including those heard at the High Court. He has also assisted in criminal matters including capital offences such as drug trafficking.

For example, there is no fixed formula on how nafkah mutaah is calculated but by practice, a solicitor may be able to decipher just the right figure!

I am not aware of the divorce process in Syariah Court. Initially, I came to Emerald Law as my ex-husband filed for divorce and I was the defendant. After talking to my lawyer, Ms Sharifah, she suggested that we file for divorce as my ex-husband’s application kept getting rejected. There was no progress on his end. I am thankful for Ms Sharifah’s advice and it helped me to come with terms with the divorce. Ms Sharifah was very patient in giving me advice and answering my questions.
