Syazana is a disputes litigation lawyer specialising in both criminal and commercial litigation.
Syazana is adept in handling a variety criminal litigation matters. She has assisted many clients in securing good outcomes after being charged including securing for her clients a stern warning (instead of a court conviction), and getting substantial reductions on criminal charges which attract a heavy sentence. Syazana currently handles a number of cases which involve offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act, including offences of trafficking which attract the death penalty. She does not shy away from a difficult criminal matter and strives to give her best whenever she fights her cases in Court.
Apart from criminal work, Syazana is experienced in dealing with commercial litigation and arbitration matters. She has acted for companies in shipping and construction industries (among others) in international and domestic arbitrations, insolvency matters, and corporate rescue schemes for companies which were looking to avoid insolvency. Syazana possesses a keen sense of the practice (legal and commercial) steps required to address her client’s concerns, and utilises her experience and knowledge to provide the most commercially sensible solutions for her clients.
In 2015, Syazana represented the National University of Singapore in the International Maritime Law and Arbitration Moot, and helped her team clinch the emerge champions in the competition. She was also lauded for being one of the best speakers for the Semi-Final and Grand Final Rounds of the competition.
